Cabinet on Economic and General Welfare

The Cabinet on Economic and General Welfare is the democ­ra­t­i­cally elected governing body for WSNA’s union-related work state-wide. All members repre­sented by WSNA for collec­tive bargaining (i.e. you are a dues-paying member working at a WSNA local unit) are eligible to vote and / or run for office on the Cabinet.

Note: ​“Economic and General Welfare” is the term we use for our labor relation­s/u­nion-related programs.

Functions of the Cabinet #

  • Set prior­i­ties for functions and activ­i­ties of WSNA labor relations
  • Develop and review policies and proce­dures to the conduct of the economic and general welfare program
  • Formu­late program objec­tives and period­i­cally evaluate the state economic and general welfare program
  • Develop and review policies and proce­dures relating to the conduct of collec­tive bargaining contract admin­is­tra­tion, contract enforce­ment, organizing, and other labor relations activities
  • Promote educa­tional economic and general welfare programs
  • Promote the organi­za­tion of local units for the purpose of partic­i­pating with WSNA in its collec­tive bargaining and related labor relations activ­i­ties on behalf of nurses
  • Estab­lish standards for local units and approve local unit rules
